1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using TechInKenya ("the Service", "we", "us", or "our"), operated by Quantara Systems (trading as Caleb MS Group), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access or use the Service.
These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Quantara Systems under the laws of the Republic of Kenya.
2. Age Restriction
TechInKenya is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 16. By using this Service, you represent that you are at least 16 years of age. If we become aware that a user is under 16, we will terminate their account and delete their personal information.
3. User Accounts
3.1 Account Creation
You may create an account using either an email address and password or through Google Sign-In. When creating an account, you agree to provide accurate, complete, and current information. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access or security breach
3.2 Account Verification
Accounts created with Google Sign-In are automatically verified. Accounts created with email and password require email verification. We will send a verification link to your registered email address. Unverified accounts have limited functionality and cannot comment or reply to posts, though they may still like and bookmark articles.
3.3 Profile Information
You may optionally provide additional profile information including a display name, bio, avatar/profile picture, and social media links. All profile information except your email address is public and visible to other users. Your email address remains private and is only visible to you.
3.4 Account Deletion
To delete your account, contact us at [email protected]. Account deletion requests will be processed within 14 days. Upon deletion:
- All personally identifiable information will be permanently removed
- Your comments may be retained for discussion continuity but will be attributed to "Deleted Account" and will no longer be identifiable to you
- Your likes, bookmarks, and follows will be permanently deleted
3.5 Data Portability
You may request a copy of your data (including comments, bookmarks, and account information) at any time before deletion or during normal account operation. Contact us at [email protected] to request your data export.
4. Content & Intellectual Property
4.1 Our Content
Unless otherwise stated, all content published on TechInKenya, including articles, code snippets, images, graphics, analysis, and other materials, is the intellectual property of Quantara Systems or our licensed contributors. All intellectual property rights are reserved.
You may not republish, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from material on TechInKenya without our express written consent. For permissions, contact us at [email protected].
4.2 User-Generated Content
By posting comments or other content on TechInKenya, you retain ownership of your content but grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute your content on the Service. You may edit or delete your comments at any time. Edited comments will be marked as "edited" and visible to other users.
You represent and warrant that:
- You own or have the necessary rights to post the content you submit
- Your content does not violate any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights
- Your content complies with these Terms of Service
4.3 Author and Contributor Content
Content created by employed or contracted authors becomes the property of TechInKenya upon publication, though the author's name and attribution will be displayed on the article. Authors and contributors operate under separate employment or contractor agreements that govern the terms of their relationship with TechInKenya.
4.4 Copyright Infringement
We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe content on TechInKenya infringes your copyright, please submit a notice to [email protected] with:
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed
- Identification of the infringing material and its location on our Service
- Your contact information
- A statement of good faith belief that the use is not authorized
- A statement that the information is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner
5. Community Guidelines and User Conduct
5.1 Acceptable Use
We value constructive technical discussion and respectful engagement. When using TechInKenya, you agree not to:
- Post spam, irrelevant content, or commercial solicitations
- Post hate speech, harassment, threats, or abusive content
- Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity
- Post content that is illegal, obscene, or violates third-party rights
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other user accounts
- Interfere with the proper functioning of the Service
- Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) without our permission
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
5.2 Content Moderation
All user-generated content, including comments, is subject to moderation. Our automated moderation system scans comments upon submission. Comments may be flagged for human review and will be published after verification that they comply with our terms.
Please note that our automated system is not 100% accurate. Comments may be removed days or weeks after initial publication if human review determines they violate our terms. We reserve the right to remove any content at our discretion.
5.3 Account Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account immediately, without prior notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms of Service. Violations may include, but are not limited to, posting prohibited content, harassment, spam, or attempting to circumvent security measures.
If your account is suspended or terminated, you may appeal the decision by contacting us at [email protected]. Appeals will be reviewed and responded to within 28 days.
6. Service Features
6.1 Interactions
Registered users can interact with content through:
- Bookmarks: Save articles for later reading
- Likes: Show appreciation for articles
- Comments: Engage in discussions (verified accounts only)
- Follows: Follow authors or topics to receive updates
We track your interactions (bookmarks, likes, comments) to provide personalized content recommendations and improve your experience on the Service.
6.2 Polls and Voting
From time to time, we may offer polls or voting features. Only verified users may participate in polls and votes to ensure accuracy and prevent abuse. No personally identifiable information is collected through poll participation beyond your verified account status.
6.3 AI Summaries
Some articles may include AI-generated summaries. These summaries are provided for convenience only. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI-generated summaries. We strongly encourage you to read the full article to verify facts and form your own understanding of the content.
6.4 Events
TechInKenya hosts a public events directory where users can discover tech events in Kenya and across the region. Event listings are free to submit and free to browse.
Submitting an event: To list an event, contact us at [email protected]We will provide a template for submitting the following details: event name; start and end date and time; location or virtual event link; organiser name and contact information; pricing and target audience; action links (registration, ticketing, etc.); a description of the event (plain text, Markdown, or HTML accepted for custom formatting); and a cover image.
Editorial discretion: We reserve the right to decline, edit, or remove any event submission at our discretion, including submissions that are misleading, inappropriate, or inconsistent with our editorial standards.
Event Affiliation disclaimer: Where TechInKenya has no affiliation with an event organiser, a visible notice will be displayed on that event listing to make this clear to readers. Listing an event does not constitute our endorsement of the event, its organiser, or any associated products or services.
Organiser rights: Event organisers may request the cancellation or permanent removal of their listing at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. Removal requests will be processed within 3 business days.
Event Liability: TechInKenya is not responsible for the accuracy of event details provided by organisers, cancellations, changes to event logistics, or any outcomes arising from attendance at listed events. Attendees engage with events at their own discretion.
6.5 Knowledge Games
TechInKenya offers a Knowledge Games feature that allows users to test their understanding of content published on the platform.
- Access: Games are accessible to all visitors at /games. Select a topic to begin a round.
- Round structure: A single round may consist of up to 5 questions. Each correct answer earns 10 XP. Each round can only be played once per topic.
- Account required to save progress: Anyone may play, but you must be logged in or create an account to save your XP, earn badges, appear on the leaderboard, and view your game history.
- Recommendations: After completing a round, you will be recommended a related article.
- Badges: Badges are earned as you accumulate XP and complete more rounds. Earned badges are displayed on your community profile and alongside your comments.
- Leaderboard: Your XP and badge progress may be displayed publicly on the leaderboard.
- Profile: Your profile displays your total XP, current badge, date last played, unlocked and locked badges, and recent rounds played.
- Fair play: We have implemented anti-cheat and anti-farming measures. Accounts found or reasonably believed to have engaged in unfair game practices, including exploiting vulnerabilities or artificially inflating scores, may be suspended or permanently disabled without prior notice.
6.6 NSE Market Data
TechInKenya provides a Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) market data page displaying listed companies, including each company's ticker name, price, price change, and percentage change. The page also shows overall market movers categorised as gainers, losers, and unchanged.
Data refresh and delays: Market data is refreshed every 15 minutes, Monday to Friday. This is not a live data feed. Displayed prices may be delayed by up to 15 minutes and may not reflect the current market price at the time of viewing.
Not financial advice: TechInKenya is not a licensed financial advisor. The NSE market data displayed on this platform is provided for informational purposes only and must not be relied upon for making investment or financial decisions. Always verify prices and market information with a licensed stockbroker or financial advisor before making any investment decisions. TechInKenya accepts no liability for any financial loss arising from reliance on data displayed on this platform.
7. Advertising
TechInKenya displays advertisements through Google AdSense to support our writers and operations. Advertisements may be personalized based on your interests if you consent through our cookie banner, or contextual (non-personalized) if you decline.

8. Email Communications
We may send you important service-related emails including:
- Account verification and email confirmation links
- Password reset requests
- Policy changes and updates
- Important security or account notifications
- Comment reply notifications: when another user replies to your comment, we will notify you by email. You may opt out of these notifications at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any comment reply notification email.
You will not receive marketing emails unless you explicitly subscribe to our newsletter. You may unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time.
9. Third-Party Services and Links
TechInKenya may contain links to third-party websites, services, or resources. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of service of any third-party sites. We encourage you to review the policies of any external sites you visit.
We use the following third-party services:
- Google Sign-In: For account authentication
- Google Analytics: For site usage analysis
- Google AdSense: For serving advertisements
- Cloudflare: For analytics, security, and content delivery
- Cloudflare Turnstile: For spam and bot protection
- Caleb MS CDN: For distributing images, videos, and files
10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Kenya. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of TechInKenya shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Nairobi, Kenya.
13. Severability
If any provision of these Terms of Service is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. The invalid or unenforceable provision will be deemed modified to the extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.
