The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has warned Kenyans that the cash stacks, hired luxury cars and trading dashboards flaunted on social media can be bait for fraud, in an advisory aimed at what it called "Masharp Boys/Girls." The alert, issued on Monday, September 28, comes as official data show investment, forex and crypto schemes among the most frequently reported forms of online fraud in the country, and as regulators prepare for a November 4 deadline that will require crypto firms serving Kenyans to hold a licence

Karakuta Fresh Produce, a Juja-based exporter of Hass and Fuerte avocados and fresh herbs, has applied to list on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) by introduction. The filing would take a business that grew revenue 350% in 2025 into the public market at a difficult moment: the company's export volumes are down about 60% this year, and the NSE has just recorded the largest single-day loss in market value in its history.

Twitch chief executive Dan Clancy has told Bloomberg that Grand Theft Auto 6 will get its multiplayer mode next year, the first public hint at a timeline for an online component that Rockstar Games has not discussed. Neither Rockstar nor its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, has confirmed the claim, and Bloomberg described it as something Clancy anticipates rather than an announcement. The single-player game launches on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Kenya's High Court has nullified the government's sale of a 15 percent stake in Safaricom PLC to Vodacom Group, declaring the KES 204.3 billion ($1.6 billion) transaction unconstitutional and ordering the shares restored to the state. The ruling, delivered on September 15, 2026 by a three-judge bench of the Constitutional and Human Rights Division comprising Justices Francis Gikonyo, Roselyne Aburili and Tabitha Ouya, unwinds a deal that had only closed eleven weeks earlier and that gave Vodacom outright majority control of East Africa's most valuable listed company

Cloudflare announced on September 15 a new security setting called Disallow AI Training, designed to solve a problem that has quietly reshaped the economics of the open web: the mixed-use crawler trap. For years, the same bot that indexed a site for Google Search also fed that content into Google's AI training pipeline, and site owners had no way to block one without blocking the other. Cloudflare's fix lets a publisher stay indexed in search while refusing to let that same crawler train an AI model on their articles. Apple, Google, and Microsoft have committed to honoring the new preference.

The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has published draft procedural and technical safeguards governing the deactivation and recycling of inactive mobile numbers, opening a public participation window that runs until September 11, 2026. The notice, issued on September 1, 2026, sets out a multi-stage process that extends the runway before Safaricom, Airtel Kenya, and other licensed operators can reclaim a dormant line and reassign it to a new subscriber, while also imposing privacy safeguards on how recycled numbers are handled.

Under the draft framework, a mobile number will only be flagged for potential deactivation after it records no revenue-generating activity, defined as calls, SMS, data usage, airtime top-ups, or value-added services, for three consecutive months. Once flagged, the operator cannot proceed straight to deactivation. It must spend a further three months attempting to reach the subscriber through the contact details collected during Know Your Customer (KYC) registration. Combined, this brings the minimum dormancy period to roughly six months before a number can formally enter the recycling pipeline, unless the subscriber resumes revenue-generating activity in the interim.

"Number deactivation and recycling shall be triggered when a number records no revenue-generating activity, such as making/receiving a call, sending/receiving an SMS, using data, topping up airtime, or using the number for value-added services, for a period of 3 months," the draft guidelines state.

Grand Theft Auto VI is set to run at 30 frames per second on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S when it launches on November 19, 2026, according to Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson. The confirmation came not through an official Rockstar press release but through content creators, including Brazilian YouTuber Davy Jones of Flow Games, who were given a hands-off, two-hour look at the game at Rockstar North's Edinburgh studio ahead of the game's Extended Look premiere on Netflix.

The disclosure matters for two reasons. First, it settles months of speculation over whether Rockstar's most expensive and most anticipated release would ship with a 60fps performance mode out of the gate. It will not, at least not initially. Second, it lands at almost the same moment that reports out of Bloomberg suggest Sony may push the PlayStation 6 back to 2028 or 2029, a delay driven by a global memory chip shortage rather than by choice. Put those two developments together and a scenario opens up where PC gamers, who typically wait the longest for Rockstar's biggest games, could end up with meaningfully better performance than console players for the entirety of GTA VI's current-generation life cycle
