  • Caleb MS CDN: For distributing images, videos, and files

These service providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and use it only for the purposes we specify.

4.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or other legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to:

  • Comply with legal obligations

4.4 Business Transfers

5.1 Active Accounts

Your account information, profile data, comments, bookmarks, likes, and follows are retained until you request account deletion or we terminate your account for violating our Terms of Service.

5.2 Deleted Accounts

When you request account deletion:

  • Your request will be processed within 14 days
  • All personally identifiable information will be permanently deleted
  • Your comments may be retained for discussion continuity but will be attributed to "Deleted Account"
  • Your bookmarks, likes, and follows will be permanently deleted
  • Backup copies may be retained for up to 30 days before permanent deletion

5.3 Analytics and Log Data

Anonymized analytics data and server logs are retained according to the retention policies of our service providers (Cloudflare and Google Analytics), typically ranging from 6 to 26 months.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:

  • Encryption of data in transit using HTTPS/SSL
  • Secure password hashing and storage
  • Regular security assessments and updates
  • Access controls and authentication mechanisms
  • Cloudflare Turnstile for bot and spam protection
  • Content moderation systems to prevent abuse

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. International Data Transfers

TechInKenya uses Cloudflare's global edge network and the Caleb MS CDN to provide a fast and reliable experience. Your information may be stored and processed in multiple locations around the world, including countries outside of Kenya.

When we transfer your information internationally, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Under the Data Protection Act, 2019 of Kenya, you have the following rights regarding your personal information:

8.2 Correction

8.4 Content Management

You can:

  • Edit or delete your comments at any time
  • Remove bookmarks and unlikes articles

  • Update your profile information
